Long Beach

Long Beach in Koutsounari, near Ierapetra, is one of the most expansive and tranquil stretches of coastline on the southern side of Crete. True to its name, the beach extends for several kilometers, offering ample space even during the peak summer months. Its crystal-clear waters and a shoreline of fine pebbles mixed with coarse sand create a clean, natural setting that feels untouched and authentic.

Facing the Libyan Sea, Long Beach is known for its deep blue waters and refreshing sea breeze, making it ideal for swimming and sunbathing. The open horizon and wide coastal line provide a sense of freedom and calm, especially at sunrise when the light reflects beautifully on the water. The beach is partially organized, with sunbeds and umbrellas available in certain areas, while other parts remain quiet and unspoiled for those seeking privacy.

Surrounded by the rugged landscape of southeastern Crete, Long Beach offers a more laid-back alternative to the island’s busier northern resorts. A selection of seaside tavernas and small hotels nearby add convenience without disturbing the natural charm of the area. Whether you are looking for relaxation, scenic beauty, or a peaceful escape by the sea, Long Beach in Koutsounari delivers an authentic Cretan coastal experience.
